Broken wooden chair next to bathtub, Norwich State Hospital, 2008.  I visited this asylum many times over the years; while most of the buildings were decidedly unphotogenic, it was a great place to poke around and explore, occasionally finding an interesting and well-lit scene such as this one.  Sadly, several years ago, they unceremoniously demolished the three most interesting buildings on the grounds - the Theatre, Salmon (male forensic) Building, and Awl (the female forensic & violent building), as well as the chapel and power plant.  I haven’t been back since; I feel almost as if that would be akin to going to New York if the connected boroughs were all demolished and only Staten Island was left.  But I had some great times here, and filmed a still-unreleased documentary, back in the day.
